In some countries there are well established Makaton centres or tutors who can provide information advice and training (see right column).

In the remaining countries the Makaton programme may only be used limitedly, or is no longer in use but the adaptations for that country have been made. This is due to a variety of reasons, such as: the professionals in the country who were trained to be tutors are no longer available due to changes in their career; personal reasons, family commitments reducing available time; or locals unable to continue after Makaton was introduced by foreign volunteers who have returned to their home countries.

Luckily in most cases The Makaton Charity in the UK will have copies of the adapted version of the Makaton vocabulary, and in many the signs match to that country's sign language of the Deaf Community.
