You can get involved with Makaton and The Makaton Charity in lots of different ways and make a real difference to people's lives:
Learning Makaton is easy and fun. By learning just a few signs and symbols, you will be able to communicate with and support someone who needs to use Makaton all the time. Wouldn't it be great if more people learned a little Makaton to help people in their local community? We think so! Find training in your area.
Makaton is used by lots of different people, of all ages and in a wide range of places - nurseries and pre-schools, play groups, schools, sports groups, Scouts and Guides - to name just a few! Many organisations welcome and urgently need volunteers, especially those with who can use Makaton. Ask around, contact your local volunteer service or contact us; we may be able to help you or can put you in touch with a Makaton tutor in your area. Contact us.
Our offices in Farnborough, Hampshire are a hive of activity: from offering support and advice to answering queries about training and resources. We also organise training events, run the website, develop our resources, and perform the myriad of administrative tasks needed to keep the Charity functioning effectively and efficiently. If you would like to help and can offer us a minimum of six hours a week for six months, we would love to hear from you. Contact us.
Help us to help people who need to use Makaton to communicate. Your donation or fundraising activities means we can continue to do our very best to make sure that everyone who needs access to Makaton, gets it.
People often raise money for us by taking part in sporting activities or organising an event like a cake sale, village fete or dinner dance. If you would like to participate in an existing event (like the London Marathon) or organise an event to raise money for The Makaton Charity, please contact us to discuss your plans. We have lots of ways to help!
