Chatters and signs all day

Sean Maughan

Sean Maughan, 2, has no learning or communication difficulties. He started using Makaton six months ago.

His mother, Bernie Maughan, tells his story:

"We started to learn Makaton by watching Something Special. Sean loves Justin and Mr Tumble. We like to sign with each other.

"Sean was slow to start talking but his speech has come on leaps and bounds since doing Makaton. Now he chatters and signs all day.

"At the moment only Sean and I use Makaton. But I will be attending a course soon and will pass the information on to my husband, and to my younger son, who has Down’s syndrome.

"As well as helping Sean’s speech, I'm sure Makaton will help us in future with my younger son."
