Less frustrated

Dylan Edwards, 4, has Global Developmental Delay and Autism. He currently attends a learning support unit in a primary school.
Dylan’s mother, Bethan Stevens, tells his story:
"We heard about Makaton through going to speech therapy, and started to use it when Dylan was aged 2. We did try the PECS system but I found it was too difficult.
"Initially I picked up a few Makaton signs from Something Special, which Dylan and I love, but I’ve recently completed a Makaton Beginners course, and I can’t wait for the Follow-up course.
"I find it really easy to pick up signs and Dylan thinks it’s good that I can do them. I have the Core Vocabulary books, but better access to symbols would be a great help.
"Dylan's use of Makaton has come a very long way and it’s had a major impact on our lives. He is less frustrated now that he can get some communication with me and his Dad."
