On 17th November we held the first of a number of conferences for Makaton users who are peer tutors or aiming to achieve this status.

The day was organised by The Makaton Charity Training team and hosted by East London Communication Enterprise (ELCE). Sixty invited participants attended from eight different organisations around the country.

The plan for the day was for the Makaton users to meet each other, share information about the work they do, and help the team at The Makaton Charity to develop ideas for training and resources for the future.

The day started with presentations from all the groups followed by a series of discussions. It finished with a celebration and a number of awards being given.

The longer term aim is to have a new network of Makaton Champions!

The day was a great success and very much enjoyed by all who attended. Look out for information about future events.
