Makaton on the move...
10th September 2008
The Makaton Charity has recently moved into formal offices for the first time. The office move is part of The Makaton Charity’s long-term plans to ensure that the charity continues to go from strength to strength in its ability to deliver essential resources, services and training to everyone who needs and uses Makaton.

Staff working at The Makaton Charity's new office
Until now, The Makaton Charity has successfully operated from its founder’s home. This has provided us with a strong foundation enabling the charity to take this important step reinforced with additional funding from Futurebuilders England.
This exciting development means that for the first time all The Makaton Charity staff can work under one roof, at the same time, while still providing enough space to increase the current staff team in the future.
We have been fortunate to receive extremely generous donations and support from a variety of organisations. These include: Elsevier Science and Intelligence Direct who donated all of the office furniture; builders Oaktree Interiors; removal company Select Office Services; communications company Beckett Telecoms; IT company Modalit who have installed and support the new IT systems, and the successful office move was managed by ProCore Project Solutions.

Our new office before it was refurbished
This means that for the first time, every member of staff has their own desk, computer, direct dial telephone and email facilities!
Moving to the new offices has coincided with another significant change. The Makaton Charity has out-sourced its warehouse and order fulfilment services due to the increasing volume of orders and stock that is now needed to be held at any one time.
