Makaton in the Courts

2nd July 2008

HMCS Change and Communication Officer (Thames Valley Area), Marie Day has won the HMCS individual Award for Diversity and also the overall Lord Chancellor's Award for 2007-8.

Symbol for 'Well done'Marie was nominated for her dedication, enthusiasm and tireless work since 2002 in raising awareness about the issues facing some of the  most vulnerable customers to HMCS and MoJ.  Congratulations Marie, this is a wonderful accolade.

The Makaton Charity has been working with the Courts to implement the use of Makaton symbols for signage and wayfinding, so we must send our congratulations to everyone on the team.

Some of the first pioneering courts to use the signage are Hendon Magistrates Court, High Peak Magistrates & Buxton County Court and Wimbledon Magistrates Court (Kingston Crown).
